What exactly is ALFA?

The Australian Leisure Facilities Association (ALFA) is the industry’s peak representative body in Australia for aquatics, recreation, and leisure facilities. It is an alliance of Regional Bodies that has been representing the industry for over 75 years and was formed in response to a strong industry demand for a national organization to represent its interests.

ALFA represents individual employees, organizations that own, manage, or lease facilities, and companies that supply the industry, with a mission to “raise the quality, increase usage, and improve the customer experience relating to aquatic, recreation, and leisure facilities in Australia.”

ALFA focuses on advocacy for key industry issues, leadership on industry policies and standards, relevant professional development opportunities, and sharing the latest industry trends and knowledge through strong network and membership communications to achieve this vision.

The creation of a national body is an exciting initiative that has been long overdue. It consolidates the work of several state and territorial agencies and consolidates local partnerships into a single voice. Aquatics, recreation, and leisure facilities are critical to the continued development of a healthy Australian community.

Individual, Organization, and Commercial Supplier memberships are available through ALFA. ALFA members automatically become members of the ALFA-recognized industry body in their state or territory.
